This week has been a very busy one as I have visited all the classrooms to see how the children are settling in. I have to tell you how impressed I am by what I have seen. The children all appear to be really relaxed in their classrooms, they have adapted well to all our new arrangements and they are participating in their learning with energy and enthusiasm.

Class teachers and teaching assistants have worked exceptionally hard to prepare the children’s rooms and corridors, which look amazing. There are so many wonderful displays, examples of work such as the portraits in year 5 and learning guides to help the children to work independently. It is just such a shame that you can’t see it at the moment. I am aiming to compile an album for our website so that you can take a little look.

This morning I met up with Year 6 for our very first VIP assembly. To achieve VIP (Very Independent Person) status children need to demonstrate that they are role models who can be relied upon at all times. This does not just mean someone who is in school every day, this is someone who applies themselves fully to all aspects of school life, they commit to their homework and complete it to a high standard, they are a good friend to others, they support their teacher by helping out and they always maintain a positive attitude. I am so pleased to be able to announce that Maisie, Lucy, Roman and Beyoncé were awarded their badges today. Well done to you all,we are so very proud. I am looking forward to the next time we meet, as there are another 10 children on the VIP radar!

Because of the current situation, we are no longer able to meet as a whole school, but we did not let that stop us today as we had our very first zoom assembly! All classes logged on to award their celebration certificates. There were so many wonderful reasons such as being a role model, settling into school well, remaining focussed, working collaboratively, demonstrating great gymnastics skills to name but a few. The children have made a fantastic start to their year!

I wish you all a relaxing weekend.
