Last night Mrs Drake, Miss Letsu and I spent a lovely evening at St Paul’s church with the school choir where they performed in the Lessons and Carols service. The singing was absolutely beautiful and the children received so many compliments and thanks. We left feeling very proud indeed. I would like to give a very special well done to Laura and Isobel for bravely performing their solo pieces, girls you were incredible!
Over the past week Langley Park Secondary Schools have released a consultation to change their admissions procedures. One of the proposals is for them to name feeder primary schools (Hawes Down, Clare House and Langley Primary). If this proposal were to be successful it would mean that 180 places would automatically be taken. Now although children from Worsley Bridge rarely access places at the Langley Schools it would put pressure on the other schools in the area (Eden Park High and Harris) to take children from schools they might not previously received them from, which in turn could leave Worlsey Bridge with even less choice. I URGE you all to object to this proposal as it would create a very unfair admission procedure that could be detrimental to our children. Please sign the petition by following this link and complete a response to the consultation by following the second link (if you scroll down you can complete this on line). Attached to this Parentmail is the letter sent on behalf of NEST and it may help you to complete your response.
Before I sign off from this week’s letter I would like to express our thanks to the PTFA who raised a fantastic £1800 at the Winter Market and a further £47.50 from the sale of second-hand Christmas Jumpers and craft items. We had a very productive meeting on Thursday to discuss recent events and upcoming plans. The PTFA have kindly donated £4500 to school for OPAL resources. I shall be meeting with the school council to discuss what the children would like to purchase for outside.
Thank you so much PTFA, the children will be thrilled!
