What a lovely week we have had back at school. It has been wonderful to see all the children and their energy and enthusiasm has been infectious! I have thoroughly enjoyed hearing all about their summer adventures and seeing the high quality work they have been producing already! I was particularly impressed with Stanley in year 4, who, when presented with a tricky dinosaur maths challenge, showed great resilience and perseverance to work his way to a successful solution. Well done Stanley!

This term sees Mrs Drake begin her new role as Deputy Headteacher. She will continue to oversee English but her role will extend to monitoring attendance as well as supporting with safe guarding. Congratulations Mrs Drake!

On the theme of congratulations I would like to say a very special ‘well done’ to Alba, Archie and Polly who have been awarded their VIP badges. They are the first members of year 6 to reach this status and they are already supporting the school by setting up for assembly, collecting/delivering lunch trolleys as well as being fantastic role models to the rest of the school community.

In the final newsletter of last term we released key dates for this Autumn. Please make sure you check this feature regularly so you can see what events are coming up. You will notice that we have made a change to the way we are going to be celebrating at Christmas. Usually all year groups put together a show, however this can prove to be very challenging as everyone needs the hall to rehearse in. Therefore KS1 and Reception will work together to create a Christmas show (see dates below) and Year 5 and 6 will be hosting an evening carol concert at St Paul’s church. Year 3 and 4 will join together to produce a show in the spring term. All family members are warmly invited to their child’s class assembly which will take place on Fridays at 9am. The first one will be hosted by 5W on Friday 13th September.

Worsley Bridge will be joining a number of organisations in New Beckenham to celebrate ‘New Beckenham Together’. We will be offering a school tour to members of the local community on Thursday 12th September at 5.30pm. Full details of the other events taking place can be found at www.stpaulsbeckenham.org.uk/new

St Paul’s would also like to invite families to the next Families Together on Thursday 12th September. This week’s theme will be ‘Jesus the Good Shepherd’. The Welcome Café opens at 3.45pm, followed by crafts and activities leading into a shared ‘tea’. The event closes at 6pm and the cost remains £2.50 per child.

Wishing you all a great weekend.

Mrs Williams
