On Monday 2B started our week with a wonderful assembly about super heroes and how there is a super hero in all of us. The children were truly amazing as 8 of their class had fallen sick with chicken pox and they covered their lines so professionally. The hero theme continued later in the week when many family members joined the year group for their Hero Awards Ceremony! It was wonderful to see the children awarding their medals. Congratulations to all of our year 2
Year 6 VIPs joined me on a visit to the Sloane Residential home to spend time with some of the residents. We had a fantastic afternoon playing games and completing puzzles while finding out about some of the guests life stories. We were particularly fascinated by Mignon who had the most beautiful album full of photos of her modelling days! They were truly remarkable. Ken delighted the children with his war time tales and the children took full advantage of asking questions to enhance their topic learning! I am so proud of the way the children embrace the opportunities to support members of our wider community.
Yesterday saw children in year 3 and 4 entering their very first football tournament. It was a tough afternoon but the children rose to the challenge admirably and survived the cold weather. Despite losing their matches they came back with excited smiles as they had had the opportunity to interview Crystal Palace player Jason Puncheon. Congratulations Kelsey, Ethan, Roman, George, Rania, Poppy and Alfie. You played well and even got to meet a famous person!
The PTFA have been working tirelessly this week to complete the final preparations for the school fair. It is set to be a lovely day and it isn’t too late to bring a bottle, cake or ‘jolly jar’. If you have a spare half an hour or so extra volunteers would be very welcome to help set up. Please pop along early if you can lend a hand.I am looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow!
Wishing you a lovely weekend.
